The first slices of this big, bad boy block of super soft memory foam
For 17 days, I was back in Tallinn, Estonia for my 2nd residency at Keller Theatre thanks to director, Vahur Keller. When his company isn't using the rehearsal room, I've been honored to get to work in the space and live in the cozy, adjoining apartment.
Vahur located the factory that imports this foam-- after I'd been searching for it unsuccessfully in Bulgaria, Poland, Paris and Prague. Never thinking it would be this big, it was at first challenging to know where to make the first cut and how deep!
But the sculpting has begun --the 'excavation' to be more precise-- I like to think of this as the 'dynamite phase'-- knocking off the really big chunks to get me started. The real sculpting comes next. I've shipped boxes of chunks of foam-- all compressed in vaccum sealed bags to Poland, Prague, NY and Paris-- all waiting for me for my next arrivals. Each box has foam for different puppets to be worked on ;)
